I go back to Thoseghar again and again. There are so many reasons behind it. It is so close to Pune and there are a couple of beautiful waterfalls and the rain has not yet ended and the road to Thoseghar is breathtaking and there are opportunities to watch birds. I close my eyes to see the pictures of vast green valleys echoing with the calls of peafowl which is ingrained deep into my soul. So, again to Thoseghar.

This post would mostly be a photographic one. I have been late in writing my posts. By now the rains made their final retreat leaving behind the bright blue sky. Again we chose the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi to have a crowd-free trip.

My last visit too was on the same occasion. We left Kaas Plateau for some other time. It was too early for the flowering. With two stops in mind – Thoseghar waterfalls and Chalkewadi Windmill farm. We were on the smooth road for an amazing ride.

The excitement tickled in just after crossing the Satara city precincts. Taking a turn after the underpass and then turn after turn. The overpowering greenery worked its charm. We watched the surrounding in awe as we entered the ‘Treely’ tunnel.

Meandering through the roads around the outskirts of Satara we were at the same spot where we stopped before. Yes, this is my favourite spot. A vast expanse of green vista. The green hill gradually descending to the vast green valley.

The same or maybe some other in the same old spot, the Lantana shrub was in full bloom. The flowers seemed to be even more bright. In this magical atmosphere, this not so popular Lantana blossoms were prepared to steal your heart.

Then there was a sudden encounter with a troupe of Bush Quail marching towards the gorge. A crested bulbul like bird was the next watchable. I could not recognise the bird. And finally, the magnificent Thoseghar waterfalls was in front of us in its full glory. Thick and white like the pillar-like waterfalls the water gushes down in full force.

The thin and the thick both the waterfalls were in good form with sufficient rainfall this year. The other falls by the side too was equally attractive. Thus I gathered some more experience in my visit again to Thoseghar.
