Bhigwan Birdwatching

Birding, Birding, India, Maharashtra Tourism By Mar 04, 2024 2 Comments

You may have come across many pictures of Bhigwan Birdwatching. Bhigwan waterbodies are famous for their wading birds. Hundreds of birders and enthusiasts flock here every year to watch these birds roost in the Ujani Dam’s shallow backwaters. Apart from the waders, even more interesting subjects are found here. Footlooseinme was in Bhigwan this time to meet these new winged friends. Let’s go to Bhigwan and see what else it has to offer.

I was at Bhigwan this time with a few raptors in my mind. Our tour turned out to be extremely successful with a check for every item on my wishlist. (Read my previous post on Bhigwan.)

Thanks to our birding guide Arvind Waghmare ( +91 93077 69498) and his friend Datta Kundre who is also a birding guide. Fortunately, he did not have any assignment at hand and he was free to accompany us for the Bhigwan Birdwatching tour.

I never thought of Bhigwan Birdwatching beyond the Bhigwan Bird Sanctuary. A few recent posts on Instagram made me curious and I enquired about them and finally got in touch with our birding guide Arvind. He guided us through our forest-safari ticket reservation process and off we were to the grasslands for the Bhigwan Birding session of 2024.

We had a few lifers in the grassland safari and then the rest on our list were met in the wetlands. We never imagined that we could check all the birds on our wishlist so easily. We were elated to a different level that words may feel too short to explain. So, I let my picture do their work as you enjoy your virtual birding session.
