Jamnagar is located on the western coast of India. Majority residents are of Gujarati-speaking. The major religion practiced here is Hinduism and Jainism, while the other religions comprise about 10% of the population. Oil refineries and other industries form the dominant part of the economy. It also has base stations of all three wings of Indian defence: Air Force, Army and Navy. The climate here is hot semi-arid, with comparatively hot day and relatively cool nights. History: Nawanagar was an Indian Princely State in Kathiawar, located on the southern shores of the Gulf of Kutch. It was ruled by Jadeja dynasty. Nawanagar along with its neighbouring states merged to form Jamnagar. Nawanagar was formed by Jam Sri Rawalji in 1950. Jamnagar literally means the town of the Jam’s.

Pirotan Island: A part of the Marine National Park. One can visit here on high tides on chartered boats from Bedi port for bird watching as well as viewing marine life.
